讲座题目(Title):The Methodology of Language Aptitude Research: A Systematic Review
讲座摘要(Abstract):
Language aptitude refers to a set of cognitive abilities that are essential for learning rate and ultimate attainment in a second language. Despite a plethora of research on various aspects of language aptitude, the methodological aspects of the research have not been systematically synthesized and vetted. This talk seeks to provide a thorough, critical review of the methods of aptitude research with a view to informing the audience how the research has been conducted, identifying issues, and proposing solutions. The talk starts with an overview of aptitude research, followed by a detailed synthesis of the methods of 65 empirical studies examining aptitude誷 role in naturalistic and instructed learning, its malleability, and its relationships with other individual difference variables. The synthesis scrutinizes the foci, designs, and analyses of the research and provides an in-depth discussion of the validity of the measures of aptitude and learning outcomes. The synthesis encompasses both explicit aptitude and implicit aptitude補 newly emerged construct in second language research.
专家简介(Bio)
Shaofeng Li, 博士,美国佛罗里达州立大学教育学院二语习得与语言教育方向负责人,副教授,博士研究生导师。目前担任《国际语言学习心理学会会刊》(IAPLL Journal)联合主编,Journal of Applied Linguistics Research Methods主编。在语言学能(aptitude)、任务型语言教学的个体差异研究方面发表高水平论文30余篇。
